Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Afternoon Tea Was Such a Hit, Weโ€™re Doing It Again!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

What a wonderful afternoon we had at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm on August 15th!

Our Afternoon Tea turned out to be such a lovely gathering, and we want to thank everyone who joined us. There is something special about slowing down for a couple of hours, enjoying good food and tea, catching up with friends, and spending an afternoon together on the farm.

We loved seeing everyone settle in, visit with one another, and simply enjoy the experience. Events like these remind us that the farm can be about so much more than growing lavender and flower; it can also be a place to gather, celebrate, and make memories.

Thank You for Making It Such a Success

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who purchased tickets and spent their afternoon with us. We truly appreciate your support of our small family farm.

One of our favorite parts of hosting events is getting to meet new visitors while also welcoming back so many familiar faces. Seeing people enjoying themselves makes all of the planning and preparation worthwhile.

And apparently, you enjoyed Afternoon Tea just as much as we enjoyed hosting it!

We've received such a wonderful response that we've decided we need to do it again.

Afternoon Tea Returns September 26th!

By popular demand, we're excited to announce another Afternoon Tea at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm on:

Saturday, September 26th
3:00 PM โ€“ 5:00 PM

If you weren't able to join us in Augustโ€”or if you came and have decided you'd like another afternoon at the farmโ€”this is your chance!

September is a beautiful time here in the Santa Rita Hills. While the height of lavender bloom may be behind us, the farm takes on a different personality as summer begins transitioning toward fall. We think it will make a wonderful backdrop for another relaxing afternoon together.

Gather Your Friends and Join Us

Afternoon Tea is the perfect excuse to gather a few friends, plan a mother-daughter afternoon, enjoy a date, celebrate something special, or simply treat yourself to a couple of hours away from the usual weekend routine.

We want these teas to feel relaxed and welcomingโ€”a chance to sit down, enjoy the farm, have a conversation, and spend some time with people you enjoy.

After the response to our first Afternoon Tea, we recommend making your plans early, as seating for this experience is limited.

We can't thank everyone enough for making our August 15th Afternoon Tea such a success. Your enthusiasm is the reason we're adding another date to the calendar, and we're already looking forward to setting the tables and welcoming everyone back.

We hope you'll join us September 26th from 3โ€“5 PM for another Afternoon Tea at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm.

Here's to good tea, good company, and another beautiful afternoon on the farm. ๐Ÿ’œโ˜•๐ŸŒฟ

The Lavender Field Has Gone to the Dogs! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm Is Now on Sniffspot

We have some exciting news for our four-legged friendsโ€”and the humans who love them! Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm has officially joined Sniffspot, which means dogs now have a new place to get outside, stretch their legs, sniff to their heartโ€™s content, and explore the farm.

And judging by some of our first canine visitors, we think the lavender field has received the official paws of approval! ๐Ÿพ

A Different Kind of Day at the Lavender Farm

Most of you know our farm for lavender, flowers, workshops, festivals, and events, but when we learned about Sniffspot, we thought it could be a wonderful way to share another side of the farm.

Sniffspot allows dog owners to reserve private outdoor spaces where their dogs can enjoy some freedom away from the crowds and distractions of a traditional dog park. For us, that means opening up our farm so pups can experience the sights, smells, trails, and wide-open feeling of the lavender field.

Even though peak lavender bloom has passed, the field is still a pretty amazing playground when you're a dog!

Our recent visitors certainly seemed to agree. We've already had dogs racing through the rows, following their noses down the pathways, exploring every interesting smell they can find, and generally having an excellent time being dogs.

And yes, watching a happy dog come bounding down a row of lavender is every bit as entertaining as it sounds.

Sniff, Run, Explore & Play

One of the things we love about the farm is that there is always something to discover, and dogs seem particularly qualified for the job.

The lavender rows and pathways offer plenty of opportunities for sniffing and exploring, while the farm setting gives dogs a completely different experience from their usual neighborhood walk.

For dogs who have a lot of energy to burn, it's a chance to get outside and move. For curious dogs, there are seemingly endless new smells to investigate. And for their people, it's an opportunity to spend some quality time outdoors with their best friend in a beautiful Central Coast farm setting.

Based on the photos we've received so far, most pups believe the lavender field is their own personal racetrack. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We're perfectly happy with accommodating!

Why We Joined Sniffspot

We're always looking for new ways to share the farm with our community, and we especially liked the idea of creating another opportunity for people to enjoy the outdoors with their dogs.

Not every dog enjoys a traditional dog park. Some are easily overwhelmed, some need more room, and others simply do better when they have a space where they can explore without a crowd of unfamiliar dogs around them.

That's one of the things that makes the Sniffspot concept so interesting. Visits are reserved ahead of time, giving dog owners the opportunity to plan a private outing rather than simply showing up at a busy public dog park.

It also gives you a pretty good excuse to tell your dog:

"We're going to the lavender farm."

We suspect they'll learn what that means very quickly.

Come Explore the Farm With Your Pup ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŒฟ

We're excited to see where this new adventure takes us and, more importantly, to see more dogs enjoying the farm.

If you've been looking for something different to do with your pup in the Lompoc and Santa Ynez Valley area, we'd love to have you come experience Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm through Sniffspot.

Reservations and additional information about the space can be found directly through our Sniffspot listing:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Book a Sniffspot visit at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Bring your pup, bring your camera, and prepare for some serious sniffing.

And if you visit, please share your photos with us! We would love to see your dogs exploring the lavender fieldโ€”and we have a feeling our new Sniffspot visitors are going to provide us with some pretty fantastic farm photos.

Happy sniffing! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ

A Heartfelt Thank You for an Incredible 3rd Annual Santa Rita Hills Lavender Festival

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

As the last vendor packed up, the final notes of live music drifted across the lavender fields, and the sun began to set over the Santa Rita Hills, we couldn't help but pause and reflect on what an incredible festival season we've shared with all of you.

From the bottom of our heartsโ€”thank you.

Our 3rd Annual Santa Rita Hills Lavender Festival was everything we hoped it would be and more. Seeing thousands of smiling faces wandering through the lavender fields, enjoying local food, shopping with talented artisans, listening to amazing musicians, and making memories with family and friends reminded us why we love hosting this event each year.

Thank You to Our Amazing Vendors

One of the things that makes our festival so special is the incredible community of local artisans, makers, growers, and small businesses who join us each weekend.

Your creativity, craftsmanship, and passion helped create a truly unique shopping experience for our guests. From handcrafted jewelry and leather goods to soaps, artwork, clothing, home dรฉcor, gourmet treats, and everything in between, each vendor brought something special to the farm.

We are incredibly grateful for your hard work, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Thank you for choosing to spend your weekends with us and for helping make the festival such a success.

Thank You to Our Food Vendors

No festival is complete without delicious food, and our food vendors certainly delivered!

Whether guests were grabbing lunch, enjoying a refreshing drink, or treating themselves to something sweet, the variety of flavors made every visit even more memorable.

Thank you for keeping everyone well-fed and happy throughout the festival!

Thank You to Our Incredible Musicians

Live music has a way of bringing people together, and this year's performers created the perfect soundtrack for the lavender fields.

Guests relaxed under the oak trees, danced with friends, and enjoyed an afternoon surrounded by beautiful scenery while talented local musicians filled the farm with wonderful music.

We are so thankful for your talent and the energy you brought to each festival day.

Most Importantly... Thank You to Everyone Who Came

To every family, couple, photographer, traveler, friend group, and first-time visitor who spent part of your Saturday with usโ€”

Thank you!

Whether you came to stroll through the lavender, shop the vendor market, take photos, enjoy the music, attend a wreath-making class, learn about steam distillation, or simply relax with loved ones, your support means more than you know.

As a small family farm, events like this are only possible because of people like you who choose to support local agriculture and small businesses. Every visit helps us continue growing, improving, and sharing this beautiful place with our community.

Watching children run through the lavender rows, seeing friends reconnect over lunch, and hearing so many wonderful conversations throughout the farm made every long day of preparation worthwhile.

Looking Ahead

While this year's festival has come to an end, the work on the farm never really stops. We'll continue caring for the lavender, preparing new products, planning workshops, and dreaming up ways to make next year's festival even better.

We already can't wait to welcome everyone back for another season of lavender, laughter, music, and community.

We'd Love to Hear From You

If you attended the festival and had a wonderful time, we have one small favor to ask.

Please consider leaving us a review on your favorite review platform, whether that's Google, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvisor, or another site you use.

Your reviews help other visitors discover our little family farm, and they make a tremendous difference for a small business like ours. Every kind word, photo, and recommendation helps us continue growing and sharing the beauty of the Santa Rita Hills with new guests.

Thank you again for making the 3rd Annual Santa Rita Hills Lavender Festival such an unforgettable experience.

We'll see you at the farm soon! ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ

Exciting Changes Are Blooming at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

As we get closer to lavender bloom season here at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, we thought it would be a great time to give everyone an update on what we've been working on during the offseason. While the fields may not have been in full bloom yet, we've certainly been keeping busy!

If you've visited us before, you'll notice quite a few improvements when you arrive this season. We've spent the winter and spring listening to guest feedback, tackling new projects, and preparing for what we hope will be our best year yet.

A New and Improved Entrance

One piece of feedback we heard from visitors was that the farm entrance could be easier to spot from the road. We agreed!

Over the past few months, we've built a brand-new entranceway designed to break up the long fence line and create a more welcoming arrival experience. Not only does it make the entrance easier to find, but it also gives guests a better sense that they're arriving somewhere special. First impressions matter, and we're excited for everyone to see the new look.

Farm Stand Refresh

The farm stand has also received a major facelift.

If you've ever visited during bloom season, you know our farm stand is the heart of the farmโ€”a place where visitors can browse our lavender products, ask questions, and take home a little piece of the Santa Rita Hills.

This year, we've installed new countertops that are much better suited for life on a lavender farm. Fun fact: while lavender essential oil smells wonderful, it's surprisingly powerful and can be quite corrosive to certain surfaces over time. Despite what you may see online, essential oils should always be used carefully and according to recommended guidelines.

Along with the new countertops, we've updated the dรฉcor and refreshed the overall look of the space. The result is a farm stand that feels familiar yet completely renewed. We can't wait for returning guests to see the transformation.

A New Mural and Farm Map

We know how much visitors love taking photos during their visit, so we've added another feature that's both beautiful and practical.

Our new mural will serve as an illustrated map of the farm, helping guests easily find all the different attractions, gardens, picnic areas, flower fields, and photo opportunities around the property. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, the mural will help you make the most of your day while also providing another fun backdrop for photos.

More Flowers Than Ever Before

While construction projects have kept us busy, we've also spent countless hours planting.

This year we've added:

  • Over 500 new Dahlia tubers

  • Several new varieties of Lisianthus

  • Colorful Celosia

  • Cheerful Craspedia (also known as Billy Buttons)

  • Unique Pincushion flowers

We're always looking for ways to make the farm more vibrant and beautiful, and these new additions should provide an incredible display throughout the season.

Of course, every farmer knows there's always one factor we can't control: Mother Nature. Between weather patterns, hungry wildlife, and the occasional surprise challenge, farming keeps us humble. But if everything cooperates, this could be one of our most colorful bloom seasons yet.

Lavender Festival Preparations Are in Full Swing

You might be wondering how we've had time to do all of this while also preparing for the Lavender Festival. Honestly, we're wondering the same thing!

Festival planning has been moving at full speed, and we're excited about what we have lined up for 2026.

So far, we've secured:

  • More than a dozen artisan vendors across the three festival Saturdays

  • Multiple food trucks

  • Returning favorite vendors

  • Lavender Distillation Demonstration

  • Lavender wreath-making activities

  • Plenty of opportunities to enjoy the farm in peak bloom

Every year we try to make the festival bigger, better, and more memorable than the last, and this year's event is shaping up to be our best one yet.

We Can't Wait to See You

As bloom season gets closer, it's exciting to finally see months of hard work coming together. From the new entrance and refreshed farm stand to thousands of new flowers and festival preparations, there's something new around every corner this year.

We're incredibly grateful for all of the support from our visitors, customers, and community members who continue to make Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm such a special place.

We hope you'll come out and experience everything we've been working on. And if you haven't secured your Lavender Festival tickets yet, now is a great time to grab them before dates begin to fill up.

Summer will be here before we know it, and we can't wait to share it with you.

See you in the fields! ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ

Cooking with Lavender: A Delicious Way to Enjoy This Fragrant Herb

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

When most people think of lavender, they picture beautiful purple fields and calming aromasโ€”but lavender is also a versatile and delightful ingredient in the kitchen.

At Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, we love sharing ways to bring lavender beyond the garden and into everyday cooking. With its light floral notes and subtle sweetness, culinary lavender can elevate both sweet and savory dishes when used correctly.

If youโ€™ve never cooked with lavender before, donโ€™t worryโ€”itโ€™s easier than you think.

What Does Lavender Taste Like?

Lavender has a light, floral, slightly sweet flavor with hints of citrus and mint. When used in small amounts, it adds a unique and elegant touch to recipes. The key is balanceโ€”too much lavender can taste soapy, but just the right amount creates a memorable and delicious flavor.

Tips for Cooking with Lavender

Before you start experimenting, here are a few simple tips:

Use culinary-grade lavender only (like the varieties we grow at the farm)

Start smallโ€”a little goes a long way

Pair with complementary flavors like lemon, honey, vanilla, and berries

Infuse rather than sprinkle for smoother flavor (especially in drinks and desserts)

Lavender Latte: A Cozy Floral Favorite

A lavender latte made from Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm 's lavender coffee, located minutes away from the Buellton and Solvang area in the California Central Coast

One of the easiest and most popular ways to enjoy lavender is in a lavender latte! There is two simple methods to produce your own lavender latte that will surely blow you away, either by infusing culinary lavender into a simple syrup, creating a lightly floral, soothing addition to your coffee or tea, or by purchasing our Lavender Coffee and adding warm milk and a layer of milk froth. The lavender coffee is roasted with lavender simple syrup, honey and vanilla and makes for the perfect base for your own lavender latte capable of beating any other lavender latte out there! It comes in either whole bean or ground, be sure to get some now!

The combination of lavender and milk creates a calming, cafรฉ-style experience right at home!

Lemon & Lavender Chicken: A Savory Surprise

Lavender isnโ€™t just for dessertsโ€”it shines in savory dishes too. A lemon and lavender chicken recipe brings together bright citrus and subtle floral notes for a dish that feels both fresh and elevated.

Why it works:

Lemon balances lavenderโ€™s floral profile

Herbs and seasoning ground the flavor

It creates a unique twist on a classic dish

This is a great recipe for:

Dinner parties

Weekend cooking

Trying something new with familiar ingredients

Hereโ€™s this recipe:

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the vinegar, olive oil, honey, lavender, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Add chicken and coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.

  2. Preheat a grill to medium. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place, skin side down, on the grill. Cook, turning every 5 minutes and brushing with the marinade, for 15 minutes or until no longer pink when tested with a sharp knife. Discard any remaining marinade.

  3. Add to plate your finished chicken and top with lavender sprigs for a garnish. Enjoy!

Lavender Chai Ice Cream: A Sweet Treat!

A serving of Lavender Chai Ice Cream from Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, located minutes away from the Buellton and Solvang area in Santa Barbara County on the California Central Coast

And last but not least, for dessert lovers, this recipe for lavender/chai ice cream is a must-try! The creamy richness of chai pairs beautifully with the gentle floral notes of lavender, creating a dessert that feels both indulgent and refreshing.

Itโ€™s perfect for:

Warm spring and summer days

Serving after a farm visit

A unique homemade dessert experience

Hereโ€™s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1 tablespoon lavender simple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon powdered chai tea

  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

  • Optional: ยผ teaspoon purple food coloring

Instructions

  1. Freeze your ice cream maker according to the manufacturerโ€™s instructions.

  2. In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine all of the ingredients (cream, chai powder mix, milk, honey, lavender simple syrup, salt, and food coloring, if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the honey has dissolvedโ€“ about 2 minutes.

  3. Remove the pan from the heat and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Allow the mixture to steep at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  4. Cover the ice cream base with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge until well chilledโ€“ at least 2 hours, but up to overnight.

  5. Once the mixture is chilled, pour it into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistencyโ€“ using a Kitchenaid Ice Cream Attachment this takes about 15 minutes.

  6. Transfer the soft-serve ice cream to a loaf pan and wrap it tightly with plastic wrap. Freeze for an additional 8 hours, or until the cream is set. The honey softens the ice cream so make sure to chill it at least 8 hours before scooping!

  7. Scoop and enjoy.

A Good Time to Cut Back Lavender

This is also the perfect reminder for fellow lavender growers: now is the ideal time to cut back your lavender and prepare it for the warmer months.

A good spring trim helps encourage:

  • Healthy new growth

  • Stronger plant shape

  • Better airflow

  • More vigorous blooming in the months ahead

With warmer weather on the way, this seasonal pruning sets the stage for the kind of explosive growth that makes lavender season so beautiful.

Lavender Oil for Sleep: Does It Really Work?

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

If youโ€™ve ever struggled to unwind at night, youโ€™ve probably heard that lavender oil can help with sleep. But does it actually work?

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm's lavender essential oil is perfect for sleep and relaxation, small batch made on California Central Coast in Northern Santa Barbara County

For centuries, lavender has been used in traditional wellness practices to promote calm and relaxation. Today, modern research is beginning to support what generations have long believed: lavender may help improve sleep quality and reduce feelings of stress.

Letโ€™s take a closer look.

๐ŸŒ™ What the Research Says About Lavender and Sleep

Several studies have explored lavenderโ€™s potential benefits for sleep:

  • A 2022 study found that lavender improved sleep quality before insomnia or sleep disorders developed.

  • A 2020 study observed improved sleep in patients receiving palliative care when lavender oil was used in aromatherapy.

  • The National Institutes of Health notes that aromatherapy may serve as a supportive complementary therapy for improving sleep quality in certain populations.

While more research is still needed to establish standardized dosing, the evidence suggests that lavenderโ€™s calming aroma may support relaxation.

๐Ÿ’œ Why Lavender May Promote Relaxation

Lavender essential oil is often associated with calming effects because of its naturally occurring aromatic compounds. When inhaled, scent molecules interact with the limbic system, the part of the brain connected to mood, stress response, and sleep cycles.

In simple terms:
When your body relaxes, your mind can follow.

This is why many people diffuse lavender oil before bed or apply diluted lavender oil as part of their nighttime routine.

๐ŸŒฟ How to Use Lavender Oil for Sleep

If youโ€™re looking to incorporate lavender into your bedtime ritual, here are a few simple methods:

1. Diffuse Before Bed
Add 5โ€“8 drops of lavender essential oil to a diffuser 30 minutes before sleep.

2. Linen Spray
Mix lavender oil with distilled water and lightly mist pillows and sheets.

3. Bath Ritual
Buy a Lavender Bath Bomb and add to a warm bath to relax muscles and calm the mind.

4. Massage Blend
Our Aromatherapy Roll-on can be applied to the temples, wrists, or the back of the neck.

Always make sure your essential oils are diluted in carrier oil before applying to skin.

5. Eye pillow During Sleep

Put our handmade lavender eye pillows to the test, these are grunted to make your sleep more rested

๐ŸŒพ Does the Quality of Lavender Oil Matter?

Absolutely.

Not all lavender oils are created equal. Many mass-produced oils are blended, diluted, synthetically altered or just straight mishandled.

At Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, our essential oil is:

  • Estate-grown in California

  • Regeneratively cultivated

  • Steam distilled in small batches

  • Free from additives or synthetic fragrance

  • Produced using traditional copper alembic stills

Because we grow and distill our lavender on-site, we maintain control over every step, from field to bottle. We also make sure that the chlorophyll is broken down completely in the bud before removing all other plant material, giving you an oil that comes from 100% dried lavender buds.

The result is a pure, richly aromatic oil that reflects the true character of lavender grown in the Santa Rita Hills.

๐ŸŒ™ Creating a Lavender Sleep Ritual

Better sleep isnโ€™t just about one product , itโ€™s about building a calming routine.

Consider creating a simple ritual:

  • Dim lights

  • Diffuse lavender oil

  • Turn off screens

  • Practice slow breathing

  • Allow your body to unwind naturally

Small habits create lasting results.

๐Ÿ’œ Experience Estate-Grown Lavender

Small-batch. Pure. Never mass-produced.

๐Ÿ’œ A Year in Review at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

As the year winds down and the fields settle into their winter rest, weโ€™re taking a moment to look back with full hearts and deep gratitude. This year at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm was filled with growth, connection, and unforgettable moments โ€” all made possible by the incredible community that continues to support our small, family-run farm.

A Year in Review with Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, located minutes away from the Buellton and Solvang area

From the return of our most beloved events to welcoming new visitors into the fields, this season reminded us why we do what we do. ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒธ The Lavender Festival

One of the biggest highlights of the year was our 2nd Annual Santa Rita Hills Lavender Festival. Opening the fields to the public and filling them with music, artisans, food vendors, and hands-on experiences was truly special.

2025 Santa Rita Hills Lavender Festival, located minutes away from the Buellton and Solvang area

Seeing families stroll the lavender rows, guests participate in wreathmaking classes, and visitors enjoying the local flavors of the Central Coast reminded us how powerful it is to bring people closer to the land and the farming process. The festival was a celebration not only of lavender, but of community, creativity, and connection โ€” and weโ€™re already looking forward to what next year will bring!

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ A Memorable Farm-to-Table Dinner

Family at Farm To Table Dinner at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm, located minutes away from the Buellton and Solvang area

Another standout moment was our Farm-to-Table Dinner, an intimate evening centered around local food, shared tables, and meaningful conversation. Gathering guests under the open sky to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal using seasonal ingredients was one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.

This event embodied everything we value: slowing down, honoring where food comes from, and creating space for people to connect โ€” with each other and with the farm itself.

๐ŸŒฟ Growing Beyond the Fields

Throughout the year, we also welcomed guests for workshops, guided tours, and hands-on classes, from lavender distillation to wandmaking and beyond. Behind the scenes, we continued caring for the land through regenerative farming practices, harvesting and distilling our lavender, and expanding our product offerings so more people could bring a bit of farm-grown calm into their homes. We sent our lavender essential oil in to be tested by third party consumer advocate and received a gold award of Excellence for quality and purity, something we cant help but be grateful for!

Not to be outdone, our Folgate culinary lavender also won a Gold Award of Excellence, confirming for us we have the best culinary lavender products in California, let alone Santa Barbara County!
